- A meeting convened by the American Philosophical Association. A panel of black philosophers examines some issues and questions dealing with the development of an Afro-American philosophy. Included is a definition of philosophy and what it is, the character of a black or Afro-American philosophy and its development, some specific events in black experience which lead to some kind of philosophical statement or outlook, philosophy as a from of social expression and some examples, some black philosophers, the ability of the non-black to identify with black experience, the lack of black involvement in philosophy in this country, and the problems encountered in interesting young blacks in philosophy.
