- A meeting sponsored by the Midwest General Assistance Center, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and the Midwest Resource Center. This program focuses on the school's responsibility for meeting the needs of linguistically different children. It covers the legal aspects of equal opportunity in bilingual education for non- or limited-English speaking children, the problems in identifying these children, why we should concern ourselves with this matter, the problem of finding bilingual teachers, some of the languages involved, the importance of the teacher's aid, the ideal in bilingual education, the need for placing value on the student's foreign language, teacher interest, guidance and counseling interest, the attitudes of teacher associations and unions, parental attitudes, the core idea and purpose of bilingual education, and the siutation in small communities.
