- Summary
- Chicago blues singer Alberta Hunter talks with Dick Cavett about her childhood and early singing career in Chicago. Born in Memphis, Tennessee in 1895, she worked with Louis Armstrong, King Oliver, Fletcher Henderson and other noted jazz musicians. Ms. Hunter retired after the death of her mother in 1954 until 1977, when she successfully resumed her career. During the interview she sings three songs.
