Giovanni comments on the poet's craft, the Iranian revolution, the importance of education, the vitality and energy in black Americans, the importance of family and relationships, the women's liberation movement, the relationship between black men and women and the optimism she feels about life in the upcoming 1980's. Opens and closes with two of Giovanni's poems - Revolutionary Dreams and Choices.
