Warner Saunders describes the dream of Chicago's south and west side youth of becoming pro basketball players and the disappointment most of them meet when the dream is denied. Includes an analysis of pro basketball plays that originated on the playgrounds of Chicago and comments by pro basketball players Mickey Johnson, Sonny Parker and short-term player, Billy Harris - all players who learned their skills on Chicago's playgrounds.
