Summary
Discusses the history and current status of blacks in professional baseball through interviews with black and white players, managers and owners. Topics include the Negro Leagues, the accomplishments of Jackie Robinson, Hank Aaron and Frank Robinson, the scouting system, advancement opportunities for blacks from the minors into the majors and the lack of blacks in front office and management positions after retirement. Some of the players interviewed include Buck Leonard, Tommy Lasorda, Hank Aaron, Frank Robinson, Elston Howard, Jim Rice, Reggie Smith, Reggie Jackson, Ferguson Jenkins, and Bowie Kuhn, in his capacity as commissioner of baseball.
