- 1 kente cloth.

- Summary
- The Franklin Williams Collection includes one kente cloth panel, one hundred and thirty-eight Akan gold weights from Ghana, and from Ethiopia, a collection of thirty-two crosses, a silkscreen print on cloth and a parchment scroll. The collections of gold weights and crosses are unclassified. The gold weight collection is comprised of brass non-figurative and figurative weights. Figurative images are of people, animals, fish, fruit, furniture, utensils and tools. Geometric weights represent an assortment of graphic designs and shapes such as the sun, moon and stars. Also, included among the gold weight collection are: koudouos, scales, spoons and boxes, implements used to store weights, weigh and measure gold dust. The Ethiopian crosses, like the weights, are produced by lost-wax casting and are made of iron, brass and silver. There are many variations of shapes and surface patterns among the neck and processional crosses in the collection.
