Summary

Views of former policeman and parole commissioner Samuel Battle taken during the 1920s to the 1940s. They consist of a portrait of Battle in uniform (1926); individual candid portraits of Battle and his wife; a group portrait of Battle, Detective Al Eldridge and a teenager (1939); three group portraits, that also include fire chief Wesley Williams, depicting two check presentations to New York City Mayor William O'Dwyer (1949 and n.d.), and an unidentified basketball trophy presentation; and a group portrait of Battle on a stoop with some African-American children (1942).
