- Summary
- Portraits of tennis player and golfer Althea Gibson. Collection includes views of Gibson playing tennis at Wimbledon, receiving various awards, attending a variety of social functions, with Ward Baking Co. executives and their advertisement featuring Gibson, playing golf, being interviewed by Randy White of WLIB and at WLIB, and teaching a children's tennis class. Some of the individuals Gibson is photographed with are: Ethel Kennedy, Edna Mae Robinson, Dorothea Toles, Floyd Patterson, Jackie Robinson, Grant Reynolds, Samuel Battle, Edith Sampson, Ora Washington and Alice Marble. Full, half and quarter length views are included.
