- Summary
- Views of Maida Springer of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union primarily taken before leaving on a trip to London during World War II as a representative of American women trade-unionists. The collection consists of group portraits of Springer at the American Red Cross Liberty Club in London, standing with three other women unionists, visiting U.S. war agencies and government officials and with baggage before leaving. Included in group portraits are many union leaders including Mr. & Mrs. Benjamin McLaurin, Mrs. Philip Randolph, Mrs. Donevant, Mrs. Julia O'Connor Parker, representing the American Federation of Labor; Mr. Hall, OPA, Mrs Grace Woods Blackett, CIO rep., Miss Anne Murkovich, CIO; Mrs. Marjorie McKenzie Lawson, FEPC, Malcolm Ross, chairman, FEPC; Miss Ruth Wehle, Skip Hall and Reginald Connoly. Half and full-length views are included.
