Local Note
The Schomburg Center Manuscripts, Archives & Rare Book Division's copy include stamps of: "Division of Negro Literature and History;" "Property of the City of New York;" and "The New York Public Library: Circulation Department, 135 Street Branch, 103 West 135th St." with accession no. E010754 in ink and stamp on several parts of the book, which indicate this item was part of the original collection of the 135 Street Branch Library. It lacks original cover and bookplates: "Reference Collection of Negro Literature," which usually accompany the items in this collection; bound in library binding, brown cloth over boards, and gilt gold spine; which show that this item has been rebound and probably added to the collection during Catherine A. Latimer, as curator and librarian years.
