D584488) is a presentation copy from M.D. Teenstra, a former government official in Surinam to S. Blauport ten Cate, member of the Second chamber of the States-General convening at Hoogezand [Holland], called to discuss the emancipation of slavery in Surinam, March 22, 1855.--cf.; inscription in manuscript on fly-leaf; G. K. Hall dated: September 9, 1940; one of the books that were added to the collection when Catherine A. Latimer was the collection librarian and Lawrence Reddick was the Curator; imperfect: brittle & loose cover, bound in publisher's original stiff boards; spine mended with a burgundy cloth tape; currently housed in an NYPL-made 4-flap phase box with ties & loop buttons.
