Local Note
The Schomburg Center's Manuscripts, Archives & Rare Book Division's copy is one of the items added or transferred to the Schomburg collection when Catherine A. Latimer was the collection librarian; & Arthur A. Schomburg, curator. The book bears NYPL's bookplate of Arthur A. Schomburg Negro Collection, as well as various ink stamps: "Division of Negro Literature and History;" Property of the City of New York;" and "The New York Public Library: Circulation Department, 135 Street Branch, 103 West 135th St." which indicate that this item is originally part of parts of the Circulation Department. It also includes NYPL's perforated stamp and a stamp from a former owner on the top right of the title page: "Presented by the American Unitarian Association, Boston, Mass." The book is library-bound in red cloth over boards and a gilt spine.
