- Local Note
- The copy 1 in the Manuscripts, Archives & Rare Book Division of the Schomburg Center is a gift, probably added to the collection sometime during Lawrence Reddick's term as Curator. Imperfect: disbound, treated, taped reinforced spine, sewn, rebound in natural soft paper wrappers, housed in a commercially made 4-flap archival binder. It lacks the NYPL bookplate and the perforated stamp and has none of the early processing markings of the original Schomburg Collection.Copy 2 is also available in the Manuscripts, Archives & Rare Book Division of the Schomburg Center; it possesses two accession numbers, which suggest that it might be a seed library item that got cataloged or added to the collection after Lawrence Reddick's tenure as Curator. The pamphlet includes NYPL's bookplate of "Arthur A. Schomburg Negro Collection," no NYPL perforated stamp but has some early processing marking of the original collection. The copy has some imperfections, including a lack of the original soft printed wrappers and the top and side edges trimmed; it is library bound in green cloth over boards, with additional blanc pages along the back and a gilt spine title.
