Dr. Marquez talks about his work and life in Harlem. He was born in Port of Spain, March 14, 1907. Childhood in Trinidad, little emphasis on race there; move to New York, school and work; experiences at Howard University (pre-med and med school); return to Harlem 1930, getting internship at Harlem Hospital, impressions of Dr. Louis Wright; Harlem Hospital care in 1930s; motivation for work as physician; health problems of patients and community residents; reasons for appearance of neighborhood health centers. Recreational activities in Harlem, 1930s; change in Harlem over years; changes in health problems in Harlem; feelings about nutrition and vitamin therapy; impressions of Carnival in Trinidad; message to youth.
