Local Note
The Schomburg Center Manuscripts, Archives & Rare Book Division has two copies of the pamphlet; Copy 1 in Sc Rare 326.1-U (United States. Dept. of State. Message of the President. 1850) is probably one of the items added to the collection when Catherine A. Latimer was the Collection Librarian; & Lawrence Reddick was the Curator. It includes NYPL's bookplate of "Arthur A. Schomburg Negro Collection," no NYPL's perforated stamp or ink stamp, and has no early processing marking of the original collection. It may have been treated and rebound in navy cloth over boards library binding with additional blank pages at the back; and gilt spine.
Copy 2 in Sc Rare E 17-4 (Lapidus Collection is a gift, which is part of the Lapidus Collection added to the Schomburg collection in 2017. Imperfect: disbound, some partial loose pages at the back. The pamphlet is housed in a commercially made 4-flap archival binder.
