Local Note

Schomburg Center Manuscripts, Archives & Rare Book Division's copy includes NYPL's bookplate of "Arthur A. Schomburg Negro Collection." The preliminary page contains an illegible inscription in ink: "Authur [?] and the "Schomburg Collection" stamp; probably one of the books added to the collection when Catherine A. Latimer was the collection librarian and Arturo A. Schomburg was the Curator. Imperfect: NYPL perforated stamp on the title page, brittle, some loose pages. Bound in publishers quarter navy & burgundy cloth over boards and gilt spine; & currently housed in an NYPL-made portfolio box.
