Local Note
The Schomburg Center's Manuscripts, Archives & Rare Book Division's copy is originally part of the 135 Street Branch, Circulation Department. It's a gift; probably one of the items added or transferred to the Schomburg collection when Catherine A. Latimer was the Collection librarian; It includes ink stamps of: "Division of Negro Literature and History;" Property of the City of New York;" and "The New York Public Library: Circulation Department, 135 Street Branch, 103 West 135th St." Imperfect: disbound, treated, taped reinforced spine, sewn, rebound in natural soft paper wrappers and housed in a commercially made 4-flap archival binder. It lacks the NYPL bookplate and perforated stamp but has early processing markings of the original Schomburg Collection.
