- This 1850 edition of the Book of Romans, from the New Testament, is the first book of the Bible translated into Yoruba (a major language of Nigeria). cf. British Library.

- Biography (note)
- Translated by Samuel Adjai Crowther, a Yoruba who had been rescued from slavery in his childhood, trained by the Church Missionary Society and ordained in 1843. He became Bishop of the Niger in 1864. In 1848 he published a primer, which contained a few Scripture passages.

- Translated by Samuel Adjai Crowther, a Yoruba who had been rescued from slavery in his childhood, trained by the Church Missionary Society and ordained in 1843. He became Bishop of the Niger in 1864. In 1848 he published a primer, which contained a few Scripture passages.
