Local Note
The Schomburg Center's Manuscripts, Archives & Rare Book Division's copy is part of the original collection purchased from Arthur A. Schomburg in 1926. It contains an NYPL bookplate of "Arthur A. Schomburg Negro Collection"; and NYPL perforated stamp. It also includes Arthur A. Schomburg's signature on the title page; imperfect: brittle, bound in brown cloth over boards, library binding, with the original illustrated printed wrappers, additional blank pages at the back, and a gilt spine.
