- Views of South Carolina: a century plant in view, black gardener next to it; Aiken & vicinity: York Street, group portrait of 3 men, 2 women and a boy, "Aiken Waterworks," well with African American women carrying buckets on their heads, group on the porch of "Rectory," woman and girl in front of a "Banksia Rose"; Columbia: Penitentiary, and the penitentiary washstand, with African American man, men and boys at work in the spinning room, women in the warping room, of Olympian Cotton mills; Greenville: waterfalls and town beyond, homes including Mrs. Glover's, Mrs. Beatties' and (Gov.?) B. F. Perry's showing the front of the house with vines, and group on drive in back of house leading to stables, unidentified large classical structure with tower; Langley: Cotton mill spinning room with young women; plantation scene, African Americans in front of negro quarters, "as taken in 1860"; a rice field, including African American carrying sheaves of rice; African American women and children on a rice raft; large house with soldiers (?) on porches; small house with family on porch, African American man and woman in front.
