- Summary
- The Stetson Kennedy Photograph Collection provides a limited view of of Kennedy's personal life, with a few photographs from 1930s-1950s. Personal photographs consist of portraits of several friends and acquaintances. Unidentified personal photographs may be of professional colleagues. Research photographs document Kennedy's undercover activities within the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) which led to a number of his publications. Images taken by Kennedy during his undercover experience as a Kleagle capture Klan ceremonies and rituals. Contact sheets are rich in detail and show Klan cermonies (i.e., cross burnings) and Klan attire; several KKK images record Kennedy's initiation ceremony on Stone Mountain, (Ga). Documentation also includes images of the exterior of a Klan Hall and a rally at Bunds' Camp in Nordland (N.J.). Several photographs that Stetson took undercover are blurry. Additional images document a Union sponsored picnic for employees of Reynolds Corporation Fuse and U.S. Steel (Georgia).
