- Binding: Dark blue morocco, gilt, in the style associated with contemporary commissioned bindings for Trinity College, Dublin: wave-and-bird border with lozenge shaped centerpiece built up from small tools and gouges. Assigned to "Joseph Leathley's Binder" in: Gold-tooled bookbindings commissioned by Trinity College, Dublin in the eighteenth century / Joseph McDonnell & Patrick Healy. 1987. no 12, plate 5 (describes and reproduces the identical binding of vol. II of this set). This group of bindings was formerly assigned to a single "College Binder"; for reproductions of bindings employing several of the same tools, cf.: Craig, M.J. Irish bookbindings, plate 21; Nixon, H.M. Broxbourne Library, no. 86; Maggs Bros. Cat. 966, no. 115; Foot, M.M. The Henry Davis gift, II, no. 257.
