- Biography
- Members of the Tayler-Cooper family of New York include John Tayler, 1742-1829, a merchant in Albany; his son-in-law Charles Dekay Cooper, 1769-1831; and grandson John Tayler Cooper. Tayler had extensive land holdings in New York State, held various state offices and served as acting governor in 1817. John Tayler Cooper, a lawyer, was also a general in the New York State Cavalry and director of insurance and railroad corporations in northern New York.
