- Biography
Post Wheeler (1869-1956) was an American journalist, diplomat and author. After a career as a poet, journalist and foreign correspondent in Paris and Morocco, he joined the U.S. Foreign Service and served in Japan, Russia, Italy, and consulates in other countries. In addition to publishing books of Russian, Albanian and Hawaiian folklore, he translated and edited a work of Japanese mythology. He collected and translated Japanese folk tales which were to be published in ten volumes in 1938 but publication was revoked because of World War II.
