- Summary
- At an Education Committee meeting of the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters, T. D. McNeal speaks on economics, combined annual income, stockholders' earnings, the good leadership, progress and competency of the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters, an all-Black enterprise. He states that in 1951, the combined income of workers on 40 odd railroads working less than 205 hours per month was $60 million. To ensure a promising future of the Brotherhood, competent leaders must be developed and members should know the organization's history and how it currently operates. McNeal stresses the importance of knowing and understanding the affiliations with the AFL, the American Railway Executives Association, and the federal and state laws and legislation affecting the workers.
- Following is a disciplinary hearing held in St. Louis involving a Brotherhood member charged with working while intoxicated.
