- William Green, president of the AFL, delivers a fiery speech on the AFL's stand on anti-discrimination and anti-Communism at a Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters' convention. Green praises A. Philip Randolph and the Brotherhood on their successes and their devotion to the AFL and stresses the importance of voting on November 7 for progressive parties and candidates. He emphasizes the importance of repealing the Taft-Hartley Act and of supporting the struggle for civil rights and the trade-union movement.
