The Negro Labor Committee's 2nd annual conference begins with an invocation. Noah Walter, the Committee's executive secretary, announces an upcoming seminar and explains the aims and objectives of the Negro Labor Committee (NLC). Ben McLaurin speaks on the recent activities of the NLC and the progress it has made in human relations and in the elimination of discrimination. He continues with talk about the Harlem Labor Union, the AFL-CIO and the importance of its support of the Black worker and the NLC. McLauren asks for contributions to support the struggle for the right to organize and for equality in the work place for the Negro worker. Louis Heinz speaks for George Meany, president of the AFL, on segregation on all levels and what the AFL's goals and accomplishments. A few guests at the session are introduced briefly, followed by the introduction of Charles Mitchell, director of the Washington bureau of the NAACP who speaks on the history of civil rights and the presidents and politicians who have supported the movement.
