Summary
The Charlotte Symphonettes sing a selection of spirituals to open this meeting on the topic of the U. S. Supreme Court's Brown v. Board of Education decision. Ben McLaurin introduces A. Philip Randolph who speaks on desegregation of public schools and how racial segregation in our schools is not compatible with the ideals of our Constitution. He refers to other historical points involving racial discrimination and ways in which the U. S. government created laws to reenslave Blacks such as grandfather clauses and poll taxes. Randolph also explains that the Supreme Court decision at hand has sanctions which violate the right of freedom itself. Ben McLaurin introduces the international officers and makes announcements regarding upcoming banquets and events.
