- "In the mid-1940s, the occupational therapy section of the Engenho de Dentro Psychiatric Hospital in Rio de Janeiro started to hold painting and modeling workshops for clients diagnosed as schizophrenics. The workshops proved to be a successful part of treatment. Their works reveal much about the human psyche.
