  • "Limited to four hundred and five numbered copies; each volume is signed by Paul Kavanaugh, printer, and by Ian O'Casey, paper-maker and publisher. The text has been set in twelve point Baskerville, two and a half point leaded. The entire edition was printed by Paul Kavanaugh at his print shop in Donore Avenue, Dublin. The body of the work is printed on all rag mould-made paper from Wookey Hole Mill, Somerset, England. The decorative handmade papers for the illustrations and endpapers were felted by Ian O'Casey of Ashling Handmade Papers, Shannon, Ireland. Three hundred and fifty-five copies have been bound in half leather by hand; fifty copies only have been bound by hand in full leather"--Colophon. Copies with this colophon are printed on light blue-gray paper (ill. on blue paper); text paper watermarked: "W S H & Co. British hand made."
  • Some copies have a variant colophon, which reads: "Limited to four hundred and five numbered copies; each volume is signed by Ian O'Casey, paper-maker and publisher. The text has been set in twelve point Baskerville, two and a half point leaded. The body of the work is printed on all rag mould-made paper.   • The 14 ill. are reproductions of the engravings in the original ed. Six were drawn and engraved for this work by Pierre Patte (3 dated 1761); 8 (dated 1698) originally drawn and engraved by Louis Simonneau for an unpublished treatise on papermaking by Desbillettes, and reworked by Patte. No. iii (on folded leaf): "Plans & elévation de la Manufacture de Langlée, près Montargis." No. vii copied from a plate in Johannis van Zyl's Theatrum machinarum universale (Amsterdam, 1734).

"Commissioned for the collection of Maggy Magerstadt Rosner"--Book label on back flyleaf.
