- Streaming audio file (approximately 26 minutes). [Music and introductory remarks by unidentified speaker.] Walter Terry introduces the three teachers from the High School of Performing Arts: Bella Malinka (ballet), Norman Walker (modern dance), and Matteo (classical Indian dance), and describes the general orientation and goals of the High School of Performing Arts. Walter Terry and the three guests discuss the following topics: the School's curriculum for dance students; problems in training high school students to a high degree of technical proficiency in ballet; the School's emphasis on the students' acquiring of performing experience; the program for this year's annual dance performance; students' extra-curricular engagements; Matteo's methods of teaching classical Indian dance to American high school students; the suitability of the school's dance training as preparation for any kind of dance career; the difficulty of pursuing academic subjects in tandem with training and performing; the rewards and challenges of working with young people. [Closing remarks by unidentified speaker and music.]
