[Music and introductory remarks by unidentified speaker.] Walter Terry introduces Harriet Hoctor; Harriet Hoctor speaks with Walter Terry about her career including why she danced primarily in musical comedies rather than with a classical ballet company; performing in London, England; her back bend, which was her signature movement; (briefly) her student Sandra Balestracci; her very strict ballet training; more about Sandra Balestracci; her ideas about dance training including the importance of bringing out a dancer's personality and creating a beautiful line; the technical skills of ballerinas today including her frustration that choreographers in the United States often do not make better use of them; the technical skills of two of her pupils, Nancy Crompton and Joyce Cuoco; her wish she could start dancing anew now, knowing what she has learned from teaching. - The sound quality is fair. The recording is marred by "tape hiss" and occasional distortion. However, the speakers' voices are almost always easily intelligible.
