- Summary
- Disc 1 (ca. 64 min.). Helen Tamiris teaches a class at the High School of Performing Arts in New York City. The topic is the relationship of imagination and technique in dance performance, including the dancer's expression of emotions and concentration. Tamiris has the students perform brief exercises in order to demonstrate the application of the topic and engages the students in discussion. Throughout, the students' voices are mainly unintelligible, and there are occasional sections that consist primarily of ambient noise. As a result the thread of the discussion is frequently difficult to follow.
- Disc 2 (ca. 63 min.). [First ca. 2 min. are unintelligible.] Helen Tamiris teaches a class at the High School of Performing Arts in New York City. The subject-matter and the format of the class are substantially similar to that of the class on disc 1 of this recording. As on disc 1, the students' voices are mainly unintelligible, there are occasional sections that consist primarily of ambient noise, and the thread of the discussion is frequently difficult to follow. Towards the end of the recording (ca. 2 min. into track 10), Ann McKenzie, is asked to assist. Disc 2 ends abruptly.
