• Disc 1 (approximately one hour and six minutes). [John Gruen's introductory remarks]. Linda Hodes speaks with Gruen about her family background; the origins of her interest in dance; her early training at Martha Graham's studio including her memories of Graham as a teacher; other teachers including Marjorie Mazia; seeing Graham perform in various works including Cave of the heart; her decision to become a dancer; her summer at Connecticut College; her first job, in a show entitled Make my Manhattan; performing for Graham in a lecture-demonstration at the 92nd St. Y; performing with Graham's company [Martha Graham and Company] in Canticle for innocent comedians; the composition of the company at that time [1952]; Erick Hawkins; more on Graham as a teacher; working as a demonstrator in class; more on Canticle for innocent comedians; touring in Europe in 1954, including their successes and failures; her role as Joan in Graham's work Seraphic dialogue; some of her roles including in Graham's and Balanchine's collaborative work Episodes; other roles created for Hodes by Graham; her marriage to Stuart [Hodes] and her children; life in Graham's company, in particular her extra-company activities such as teaching and performing with Paul Taylor's and Glen Tetley's companies [ends abruptly].

• Disc 3 (approximately 19 minutes). Linda Hodes continues to speak with John Gruen about Martha Graham as an artist and as a person; Graham's continuing active role in the company including choreographing; Hodes's experience with the Nederlands Dans Theater; the dancers in the company today compared with the dancers of her time; Asian dancers and Graham's work; Hodes wish to remain with the Graham company as long as possible.
