• Disc 1 (approximately 33 minutes). Ethel Winter speaks with Jean Nuchtern about her early dance training; attending Bennington College where she first learned about modern dance and was introduced to Martha Graham; her first performances of Graham's works; moving to New York after graduation to join Graham's company [Martha Graham Dance Company]; various works Graham created while Winter was in her company including Night journey, Dark meadow, and Salem shore; her illness and recuperation; touring in Asia with the company [ends abruptly].

Ethel Winter continues to speak with Jean Nuchtern about performing in Martha Graham's works including in Seraphic dialogue; performing in a revival of Graham's Hérodiade including her view of the work's themes; other Graham works in which she performed; how the audience's response prompted a change in Graham's view of her work Acrobats of God; dancing in Graham's work Clytemnestra including a performance anecdote; the audience response to Clytemnestra; participating in the company's lecture demonstration programs, in London, Israel and elsewhere; Graham's work Appalachian spring including Winter's interpretation of the role of the Bride [ends abruptly]; an anecdote about Graham and Winter's costume.
