[Music.] Lucile Brahms Nathanson introduces the program Making the dance scene, and her guest, Lothar Perl, composer, teacher and dance accompanist; Perl speaks with Nathanson about his background including how his interest in jazz music brought him to dance; dancers he has worked with, including Ruth St. Denis, Katherine Dunham, and Trudi Schoop; his current activities as a member of the Adelphi University Theatre and Dance Department including his views on the relationship between music and dance; working with David Lichine at MGM [Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer] to compose music, based on operettas by Johan Strauss, for a sequel (Girls dormitory) to Lichine's Graduation ball [closing remarks and music].
