[Music followed by introcutory remarks by host Elinor Rogosin.] Genevieve Oswald, curator of the Dance Collection [now the Jerome Robbins Dance Division] at The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, speaks with Elinor Rogosin, about the Collection's history and its holdings including for example, the Cia Fornaroli and Walter Toscanini papers, Enrico Cecchetti's notebooks, the papers and letters of Doris Humphrey, Ted Shawn, and Ruth St. Denis, and over one million feet of film; the Dance Collection's original documentation work, e.g., filming works of major dance companies in order to preserve their choreography; the users of the Dance Collection; the production of the Dance Collection's computer-produced book catalog; the problem of finding sufficient funds to support the Collection's activities [closing remarks by Rogosin; music].
