- Streaming file (approximately 23 minutes). Noemi Lapzeson, a former member of Martha Graham Dance Company, speaks with Elinor Rogosin about the London Contemporary Dance School, including the roles of Robin Howard and Robert Cohan in its establishment; the teaching of Graham technique as the School's initial focus; the students; the difficulty of finding an audience in England for contemporary dance; numerous influences on the School, for example, that of Merce Cunningham and Dan Wagoner; the waning influence of Graham at the School; Lapzeson's background and training, in her native Argentina and at the Juilliard School; her immediate affinity with Martha Graham's work; her personal disappointment that she is not able to stage Graham's work coupled with her understanding as to why Graham does not want her works staged without her personal involvement; Lapzeson's quixotic feeling that she is teaching Graham technique to dancers who will probably never use it; her views on the current situation at the Martha Graham Dance Company.
