Summary

Anna Halprin speaks with Elinor Rogosin about her new work, Initiations and transformations, to be performed by her company, San Francisco Dancers' Workshop, at the City Center [of Music and Drama]; her ideas about audience participation and the creative process as a collective experience [break in the interview at ca. 2:50 min. into track 2 during which only ambient noise is heard; the interview resumes at ca. 4:40 min.]; Halprin continues to speak with Rogosin about the creative process as a collective experience; her ideas about movement [interview appears to end at ca. 35 sec. into track 4 but after a brief gap resumes]; her use of unconventional techniques, including nudity and contrasting rhythmic patterns for the dancers and the accompanying music; the ritualistic aspects of her choreography.
