May 9: Walter Terry records his thoughts on the Houston Ballet including his evaluation of the company and its dancers; describes the performances he saw including James Clouser's ballet Allen's landing; his Three trios; Frederic Franklin's Danse brillante; John Taras's Water music; and Clouser's Con spirito [the May 9 section of the recording ends at approximately 20:40 minutes; the May 10 section begins at approximately 20:50 minutes]. Terry describes the performances by Ballet West of George Balanchine's The four temperaments; and of La fille mal gardée including his evaluations of the dancers; some observations about the repertory and the audience; his evaluation of the company [this section ends at approximately 27:22 minutes; the next section begins at approximately 27:36 minutes]. Terry speaks about the performance he saw by Repertory Dance Theatre, an environmental [site-specific] work held in three rooms at the University of Utah's art museum;
