[Unidentified speaker states the date, occasion, and name of featured speaker Richard Buckle.] Richard Buckle speaks about the origins of his interest in Serge Diaghilev and the Ballets russes; his friendship with Lincoln Kirstein including an anecdote about Kirstein's having helped Romola Nijinska with her book about Vaslaw Nijinsky; designing an exhibition commemorating the twenty-fifth anniversary of Diaghilev's death; his role in the acquisition and cataloging of Ballet russes designs, including stage curtains and costumes, for auction by Sotheby's; his purchases of several items at the auction, which are now part of the Victoria and Albert Museum's collection; researching his biography of Diaghilev [Diaghilev, 1979] including his personal problems at the time and how they were resolved on a visit to New York City.
