Dorothy Bird speaks about her recent trip to Saratoga [Saratoga Springs,N.Y.] with John Martin, in particular, their conversation about Louis Horst and his influence on Martha Graham; Martin's thoughts on how Stravinsky, Picasso, and Graham were alike in their artistic methods, and how they differed from George Balanchine; the relationship between Horst and Graham including his constant challenging of her work; the pleasures of country life, especially gardening; the contrast between the slums and the magnificent public buildings in Albany, New York; a dance history course she is developing [ends abruptly].
