- SUMMARY: Indrani and Madhur Jaffrey discuss the Nātyaśāstra, the book in which Indian dance steps are codified. Indrani briefly describes each form of Indian dance and dance-drama. She then discusses in more detail the Kathakali and its male and female traditions; Bharata Natyam and her teacher; the body positions of the Kathak; her own discovery of the Orissi dances. A question and answer period follows.
