- Ted Shawn speaks with Sarah Jeter about his financial difficulties at the beginning of World War II leading to the sale and incorporation of the Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival as a non-profit organization; private support of the festival; the continuing financial difficulties of the Festival during the war years; Russell Chapin and his support of the Festival including its use as a venue for opera; Shawn's having to choreograph 18 opera-ballets in the midst of very difficult circumstances at the Festival; reaching his physical and financial nadir; his tour in Australia as a solo performer and a teacher; the circumstances that led to Shawn's returning to Jacob's Pillow as director; John Christian including his role in Shawn's U.S. tour and subsequent role at Jacob's Pillow; the financial chaos Shawn found at Jacob's Pillow; his struggles, with Christian's help, to keep the Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival afloat both financially and artistically; more on the management including the employing of Grace Badorek and his desire to create a record of his and Christian's contributions; his intent that this recording be given to The New York Public Library.

- Overall sound quality through track 6 is very good; beginnig with track 7 the sound quality is fair to poor although for the most part Shawn's voice is intelligible.
