- The musical Watch your step was produced at the New Amsterdam Theatre, New York, N.Y., Dec. 8, 1914. The Castles had both acting and dancing parts in the show. They performed together in it from approximately Nov. 1914 to June 1915, and in the autumn, toured United States cities, including Chicago and Boston. In December, Vernon left the show to study aviation, preparing himself to join England's Royal Flying Corps and fight in World War I. Irene continued touring in Watch your step until May, 1916.
