Summary: La cachucha was arranged and introduced by the Austrian ballerina Fanny Elssler, dancing the role of Florinda, in Jean Coralli's ballet Le diable boîteux at the Paris Opéra, June 1, 1836. Miss Elssler's La cachucha became famous during her two-year tour of the Americas in the early 1840's.
