- Summary: Documentary on the Shakers filmed at the two remaining Shaker villages: Sabbath Day Lake, Maine and Canterbury, New Hampshire. Traces the growth and decline of this American religious sect through the memories and songs of the surviving Shakers themselves. Presented through interviews with twelve surviving Sisters (as the Shaker women call themselves), scenes showing their busy, rural life, and nineteenth-century drawings, several depicting the ecstatic Shaker group dances.
