- Design for front curtain of Ruth Page's ballet, Die Fledermaus, first performed Rockford, Illinois, January 9, 1961, by the Chicago Opera Ballet.
- Depicted is elaborate rococo foyer with walls and ceilings replete with statues, murals, portraits, friezes and pillars mostly of cherubs and nude figures taken from classical antiquity; at center is circular alcove with two pillars supporting canopy, all elaborately "sculpted"; at extreme right and left are two purple hassocks with black tassels at corners; hassocks of the same style are also in alcove; between hassocks and alcove at left and right are two doors with purple curtains at opening; at left, female figure in maid's costume is half-concealed by curtain pulled back to left; at right, male figure in valet's costume is half-concealed by curtain pulled back to right.
