Summary: The Shinnō, or drama dealing with the gods, is part of the Kagura repertory of sacred Shinto dances and derives from Sarugaku, the prototype of Noh. It comprises twelve parts of which are seen the Throne Dance in which a new mat is laid out for the deity, Sword Dance symbolizing the exorcism of evil spirits, and the Ōyashiro, a drama dealing with the origin of the Sada Shrine.
